UCPS offers DLI across all district attendance zones Institute Background
Union County Public Schools (UCPS) has offered Dual Language Immersion programs since 2012. However, in 2017, access was expanded to reach students whose first language is Spanish. Between 2017 and 2019, UCPS added five new Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs in Title I schools with a high population of English Learners. An additional DLI school was added in 2022. Enrollment in DLI programs is currently over 2,000 students. Union County has DLI programs in 15 elementary schools, as well as continuation programs in 6 middle schools, and 3 high schools. Three additional high schools will be added beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. DLI is now available in all attendance zones, removing location as a barrier to enrollment in the program.
