Government Support

The U.S. government provides critical support that plays a significant role in broadening access to language education. For example, the International and Foreign Language Education (IFLE) office that administers Title VI (domestic) and Fulbright-Hays (overseas) grant and fellowship programs has among its goals: “Expand access to international and foreign language learning, especially for traditionally underserved students.” This support comes from the Departments of Defense and State as well as Education and takes the form of scholarships, fellowships, language programs as well as vital support resources.
