Indigenous Immersion Education Institute Background
This program is an Oneida language immersion school. It increases access to Oneida language educational opportunities and allows Oneida students the right to be educated in their inherent and ancestral language, the Oneida language.

It is not taught in our school. We are an Oneida language immersion school and we use only the Oneida language as the sole medium of instruction.

Parents and families are required to attend langauge classes with the instructors in order to foster a language environment in the home and family.

Teachers are required to have a foundation in the Oneida language and pass oral assessment based on the curriculum established with the Oneida language department. Teachers go through classroom integration and training with the program's head instructor to develop indigenous immersion teaching pedagogy skills.

Students have the right to be educated through the medium of their ancestral language. We ensure that through this immersion school.
Practice 2
Students have the right to be educated using a culture based curriculum. We ensure this by creating, designing, and teaching lessons using our ceremonial cycle and calendar and teach all educational curriculim concepts through that.
